Vehicles

 

We have in excess of 35 vehicles at our immediate disposal ranging from the small van (Vauxhall Combo) through Ford Transit, Mercedes Sprinter (4 pallet), Luton tail-lift, 7.5 tonne (tail-lift curtains) up to 18 tonne (tail-lift curtain-side).

 

All vehicles are fully insured for goods in transit (details on request). They are all regularly maintained and follow the strict governmental vehicle check guidelines.

 

All drivers are fully equipped with mobile communication and have the ability to live scan pod information on final delivery.

All vehicles are fitted with load points, straps and blankets where applicable.

Premises

 

We occupy a fully operational office within Westbay House on Blackthorne Road in Colnbrook Berkshire. The position offers us an envious strategic advantage of being close to the airport as well as the M25, M4, M3 and M40 all of which are main arterial roads within the UK.

 

The building has the added advantage of Marty Cox’s kickboxing gym on the ground floor. A full size ring, bags and various training equipment coupled with the hands on instruction of Marty Cox, offers a demanding workout for both beginners and experienced fighters alike.

PODs

 

We are fully aware of the importance of POD’s being clear and concise. We encourage our drivers to ensure the client sign, print, time and date each and every delivery. We also ask our drivers to call in upon delivery so that we can furnish our client with up to date information by phone, fax, or email.

 

We have recently introduced a scanning facility for the drivers so that we can email the client their own completed paperwork minutes after the delivery is completed.

Animal Transport

 

Animal transport can be a very delicate issue especially when handling peoples domestic pets. At Westbay we have over 20 years’ experience in handling various types of live creatures. The majority of what we move is Cats, dogs, and fish; we have however carried some more exotic species including reptiles, zebras, arachnids, birds and sharks to name a few. We have a specialist consultant to call on for advice in handling requirements and are one of the only courier company’s on the airport to hold the correct insurance for this.

 

All our drivers are in possession of an Animal transport authorisation certificate which is an absolute must when carrying live creatures. Again this is something that is often missed by our competitors.

Known Cargo

 

With airport security becoming more of an issue of late we have strived to ensure that your consignments are carried with the due diligence they require. All of our drivers hold a Level “D” security certificate, enabling them to transport security sensitive materials.

 

Part of the security of carriage includes the necessity for us to carry out CRB (Criminal Record Bureau) check on each driver. Alongside the 5 year history check it ensures we have the highest grade of drivers to carry out all of your transport needs as and when required.

 

In November 2014 we achieved Regulated Agents Status and no longer have to complete the subcontractor’s haulier agreement.
